Edward S. Lezza, Jr.

Edward S. Lezza Jr. is a resident of Westchester, where he lives with his wife, Elizabeth and rescue dogs (Princess and Hazel). Eddie was raised in Bellwood where his family currently resides. He attended St. Simeon School in Bellwood. Following graduation from Nazareth Academy, he received an Associate Degree in Business from Triton College.
Eddie began at the family bakery, Lezza Spumoni & Desserts, as a child, learning the business, with an honest, strong work ethic at a very young age. For nearly 30 years, Eddie worked at the bakery, now located in Bellwood. The origin of Lezza’s famous spumoni is in Naples, Italy and the recipe came to Chicago’s West Side with Salvatore Lezza in 1905. After the first sixty years of Lezza’s being in business on Taylor and Halsted in Chicago, they moved the business to Bellwood, where it currently runs its wholesale operation. Lezza’s retail location is in Elmhurst.
While working as the director of operations and logistics at Lezza Spumoni & Desserts, he was elected as Memorial Park District Commissioner in 2001. Eddie voted on necessary ordinances and regulations for the management of Park District properties located in Bellwood, Hillside, Berkeley, Melrose Park, Northlake and Stone Park. Two years later, Eddie ran for trustee in Bellwood. Succeeding for three consecutive terms, he served as trustee for nearly twelve years, implementing programs and services provided by the village and addressing the city’s budget.
Eddie currently serves as a member of the Italian American Police Association, Polish American Police Association, Italian American Executives of Transportation, Chicago Italian American Charitable Organization, Knights of Columbus, Joint Civic Committee of Italian Americans and previously was a volunteer member of the Westchester Economic Development Committee.
